Life Hacks/Inform your mom about how you were already going to the police station anyway when you found ‘Billy.’
Ok, well, it would probably be best to just give her the time to think. However, now may not be the best time, but it might be a good idea to tell her about why you were coming here in the first place.
“Ok,” you say to her, giving a happy and re-assuring look to Billie. “Sure thing… uhh… but now may not be the best time, but before we think about going in there I think I should probably tell you about what I was doing when I found ‘Billy.’”
“Huh?” Your mother responds, looking up curiously.
“I was actually on my way to the police station anyway before I even met ‘im,” you tell her. The lady who arrested his dad was trying to get me interested in the junior police academy, it seems like I impressed them with the way I took him down and called for another officer to arrest him like that… uhh… oh, right. Billy’s dad is a police officer and he was in uniform when he attacked me.”
“What?” Your mom responds with a somewhat angry tone. “Ok, ok, back up, go back to that joining the police academy bit!?”
Wow, ok, that was a bit of a bigger reaction than you were expecting, but you can feel your subconscious mind smiling and slowly trickling information to you that this can actually work in your favor. It feels odd acting according to a plan that your subconscious knows about but your conscious mind doesn’t, but you decide to just go with it.
“Uhh… well… the officer was saying how it is abuse of police power like what that guy did gave the police a bad name, but she also said that I seemed to handle myself well and they could use more people like me as police officers… sooo… when she found out I was only 15 she started telling me about the junior police academy.”
Your mother just directs an intense and disapproving glare at you. A glare that says she is unhappy and she is just waiting for you to say one more word so that she can really let you have it and jump all over you rather than having to put words in your mouth in order to force her way into it herself.
“Are you planning to accept that?” She asks.
“Uhh…” you respond. “Well, I thought I might check it out at least.” You get the distinct feeling you just gave your mother the excuse she needed, and for some inexplicable reason your subconscious is actually happy about that.
“I don’t think there is a need for that,” your mother says, indeed jumping all over you. Suddenly, her intense glare turns down to ‘Billy,’ and you can just see the wheels in her head turning. “Tell you what,” your mother says, “I’ll make you a deal. I’ll go ahead and make Billy your foster brother, or even your adoptive step brother if we get it to that, and in exchange you have to abandon any idea of becoming a police officer.”
Say what!? How!??? Where did this come from? You had no idea your mom would be THIS against you joining the police force.
“Uhhh… what?” You say, suddenly realizing that this is indeed what your subconscious was plotting. Your conscious mind though is still reeling. You are genuinely confused as to how it wound up like this.
“Xander,” your mom says “You are capable of a lot better that that. You are smart, VERY smart. You ought to be going to the best colleges on an academic scholarship, you could even be the CEO of the company I work at. You don’t need to settle for this. If you are about to feed me some line about doing some public good or something like that, then how about becoming a politician. You would be the boss of all the police officers if you want to make a difference so much! You shouldn’t settle for less. You’re my son, and you are very smart.” -sigh- Your mother suddenly stops in the middle of her touching speech and gets a look as though she is criticizing herself for this sudden show of emotion for you.
“Well would you listen to me talk, huh?” she groans. “Alright, let’s just get in there before I change my mind.” She says, marching forward, brushing very close to you and actually snatching one of Billie’s hands, ripping it right off of your hand and dragging her behind without even looking back until Billie lets out a protesting whine and snatches her hand back to grip you tightly and pull into your side for protection. Your mom looks back in disgust. “Fine then,” she says in a tone that is angry, but still in control. She turns her hard stare back at you, looking you dead in the eye. “Well, you coming?” She asks. “Offer’s still on the table.”
Wow! Sure enough, your mother is definitely tough. You mention one thing that sets her off, and she is right back to her old self. For a moment you thought that you were managing to wiggle out from under her thumb with your new found negotiation skills, but just like this even though you are getting what you wanted there is no doubt she is back in full control.
What will you do?
- You never really wanted to join the police academy anyway, easy trade
- Try and argue the point, you don’t want to stay under your mother’s thumb! (Note: attempts to revise but not reject the deal) Request --Notsooldpervert (talk) 00:51, 9 April 2017 (CEST)
- She’s still going to be dominant, but you can use this chance to closen your relationship with your mother (Note: accepts the deal, but uses it as an opportunity)
