The term "step child" also refers to adoptive brothers and sisters. Different case for the parent-child relationship, but it works in the sibling relationship. I will take the point on the confusing double meaning though, it is better to be more specific in order to avoid misinterpretation. And @ Elerneron, she is mostly being emotional here and afraid about him being in harm's way, but that is a pretty good argument to use in the arguing back route. Oh, actually more so than her objection to Xander being in harm's way, right now Inga is feeling personally threatened by Xander beginning to assert himself more. It is more that this is an excuse for her to re-assert dominance, witch Xander was winning some major points on her to make her loose dominance. That felt threatening to her, thus this reaction.
