Confident that your soul fragment is hidden by your Obscurus Anima charm, you decide to test if Emily’s horse Felix is affected by your presence, as you have noticed that animals seem to react negatively toward you, clearly sensing something is wrong.
You approach Felix in the stables, and the horse seems calm, acknowledging your presence and raising his head. You reach out with the girl’s hand, knowing that Felix like a gentle stroke on his nose, or a carrot or apple if one is available.
You sense that the girl wants to pet care for Felix, and possibly ride him, and then a cruel thought occurs to you. You raise your wand and point it at the beast, who remains blissfully unaware that you could end its life in an instant. The girl realises though, and her fear and howls are exhilarating, even though it is you that are afraid as a result of your own implied threat.
You lower your wand.
“Very well Emily. I have no need to hurt this creature,” you say, “but remember, I can and will kill everyone and everything you love if you betray me Emily. Everyone.”
The monster leaves you then, and you stand there for a moment, your heart beating and your mind racing. The monster can make you say whatever her wants you to, and just as quickly he leaves, sleeping or resting or doing whatever he does, leaving you back in control of your body again, able to talk and move and do what you will.
You feel like crying, or running and asking for help, but you know what he would do. Instead, you blink back your tears and gently stroke Felix on his head and neck and flank. Soothing the horse soothes you, and the soul concealing spell seems to be working, meaning animals are not terrified of you anymore.
You know you will miss Felix when you go to Hogwarts, and so you put on his saddle and bridle and lead him out of the stable to take him for a ride. One last run across the Lestrange family estate before you leave him far behind for a long time.
You start by gently trotting out of the manor grounds and gardens, before moving to a canter across the lawns and onto the fields beyond. Something makes you feel wreckless, and you decide to make Felix gallop, across the fields and into a lightly wooded scrubland where you really shouldn’t run him so fast. You don’t care though, all you want is the sense of freedom, so you direct Felix at first, but then let him find his own way, running free for a moment. All you need to do is to hold on and ride.
As you let the horse run, you realise something. Are you controlling Felix? Or is he controlling you? Or are neither horse, nor rider, fully in control? The monster is gone from your mind for a moment, no doubt not caring or understanding that you love Felix, and so you are free to think: who is in control? The monster? Or Me?
You are not an animal to be controlled by the monster. Your spirit rides within your body and mind, and his spirit, or soul fragment or whatever he wants to call it is nothing but a parasite. He’s not strong enough to control you all of the time, and that’s why he rests or sleeps or goes away. He has to threaten you because he can’t always control you.
You can’t always control him either though. It is as though there are two riders, one who is used to the body, having always believed it was hers, and another rider, that doesn’t care for the girl or the body, that sometimes seizes control.
Worse though are the times when you don’t know who is in control. The strange thing is that it always feels like you are in control. There are clearly times when the monster is giving a command, and other times when it is Emily, but as it is always your hand that moves or mouth that speaks, it always feels like it is you.
Was it you that had sex with Bellatrix? Or the Statue? Or was it the monster? Or was it both of you, woven together into some kind of chimera so that you can’t tell where the girl ends and the Dark Lord begins? Was it you that has started demanding sex from others? Or the Dark Lord? It is you that is brought to orgasm again and again.
There are things that awake and arouse the monster. Anger, Lust and passion, hatred, cruelty. Power. These things, and the schemes to obtain them awaken the monster in your mind, leaving you cowering, or sometimes watching and learning, as he exercises power to satisfy his lusts.
But what of your desires? Do your wants become his? The passion you have felt recently, who does that belong to? The pleasure? The release? You have noticed that after particularly intense orgasms, the monster is nowhere to be seen. Perhaps the feminine energy weaken him for a moment? Could it be used to free you somehow?
You notice that Felix has slowed to a trot. In the absence of any commands from you, he starts to wander, and eventually finds some long fresh grass, and starts to graze. Without commands from you, the animal does what it will.
The monster is still sleeping, and for a moment you are free.
You decide now to savour such moments.
