Well, it might not seem natural to the reader to choose that early, but it also didn't feel very natural to me to have a girl nervous about her first time and not have her ask the question when the subject was up. I can see that. I can also see John giving her the alternative of just taking off their clothes first and letting them become more comfortable with the situation. Let them both know that they are safe and cared for so there's no reason to be nervous. Remind her that this is the start of the rest of their lives so there's no need to rush anything, either. Would go a long way to calm her down. Maybe she or he can remember that they were supposed to do it at the Brothel the first time if it came down to it, and ask if she wants to invite her mothers over, or even go there instead of home.
