After lunch, you feel a little more awake and alert, and join Lily for a basic charms class. Your teacher is Professor Flitwick, and to your dismay, he is simply teaching you how to levitate feathers.

“Now remember,” the Professor says, addressing the room full of first year students, “it’s swish and flick.”

All around you, other children practice their magic, with varying degrees of success or failure. All you can do is stare at your feather, wondering how on earth your life has led you to being back in a first year charms class again.

“You’re saying it wrong,” you hear Hermione Granger lecturing the Weasley boy, “it’s Wingardium Leviosa, make the Gar sound nice and long.”

“You do it then, if you’re so clever,” Weasley snarls back at her.

You look at Lily, who is struggling to cast the charm and failing to levitate her own feather.

“You should watch Hermione,” you tell her, “she knows what she’s doing.”

“Aren’t you going to try it?” Lily asks you, “you’re good at magic, I’ve seen you.”

You are interrupted by the sound of a small explosion. It appears that an Irish boy named Seamus Finnigan has exploded his feather, and this results in feathers flying everywhere. The class erupts with laughter, and your Professor, seemingly quite flustered, goes to get another box of feathers for you all.

“You may talk to one another quietly,” says Professor Flitwick, “I won’t be long.”

As soon as Flitwick leaves the room, Draco Malfoy starts his nonsense.

“Can’t you even manage to levitate a feather Emily? Is it too hard for you?”

You turn and give Draco a look of exhausted disgust.

“Really Draco? Are we going to fight over Wingardium Leviosa?” You say, “Couldn’t you pick something more important? Like chocolate frogs or something?”

“You’re not even trying,” he snaps back at you, “I don’t think you can do it. What’s the matter Emily, is it too difficult for you?”

Levicorpus” you say, in a bored tone of voice, staring blankly at the idiot boy.

“Aaargh!” Draco cries out in surprise as you levitate him by his left ankle, “Put me down! Put me down!”

“Oh come on Draco,” you say, twirling your wand and causing him to rotate in an anti-clockwise direction, “put you down? You’re not a dog, and I didn’t even know you were sick.”

The rest of the class howl with laughter, but Draco looks furious.

“Let me go! Let me…” there is a large thud as he hits the floor, head first. Fortunately for him his head was only a couple of feet off of the ground, so it’s only his pride that is badly hurt. The rest of the classroom keep on laughing, and only stop laughing when Professor Flitwick comes back in with more feathers.

“Here’s another box, plenty for everyone,” he says, “what are you all laughing about?”

You spend the rest of the lesson helping Lily to learn the levitation charm. By the end of the lesson she is quite good at it.

What do you do next?
