The Last Horcrux/Hogwarts/House Slytherin/Dormitories/Time for Bed

From All The Fallen Stories
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The House Slytherin prefects tell you that first years must go to their dormitories by 9pm with lights out by 10, whereas older students may stay in the common room until 10, or 11pm for sixth and seventh years. No students are allowed outside of their House Common Room or Dormitories after 10pm.

You would rage at the indignity of being sent to bed, but you actually feel really tired after a long and eventful day. In any case, it will be nice to spend some more time talking with Lily and getting to know her better.

You change your clothes and put on a fine silk night dress, choosing a modest white silk rather than anything racier. Lily changes into some rather shabby flower print pyjamas, that look rather faded. You manage not to look at her while she changes but make sure that she gets to see you topless for a moment before you put on your nightie. You are proud of your body and want to show it off to her.

“I think I’ve got some more strawberry tarts if you want one before bed?” You ask Lily, “we can clean our teeth afterwards.”

You and Lily eat the last strawberry tarts between you, the go to clean your teeth. The small “bathroom” that you have to share with Pansy and Daphne is little more than a toilet, a sink and a heater for some towels, although there is a decent sized mirror and some shelves which Pansy and Daphne have already mostly filled with their things. You almost tell her that your Extendable Luggage Suite has its own bathroom with a large bathtub and shower, but you decide to keep that secret for now.

The water from the sink is surprisingly fresh and drinkable, so you get a glass each for you and Lily and head back into your bedroom. Lily gets into her bed, and you find that the top side of you bunk doesn’t extend out quite as far as the bottom side of hers, meaning you can lean over the edge a little and still see her.

You talk for a while about the others girls, Professor Snape, your cousins Blaise and Draco, and how Hermione and Lavender might be getting on in Gryffindor. At 10pm, the magical lights start to dim, and within ten minutes, it is almost pitch black. A small amount of light makes its way down through the gloom of the water at the windows, but you decide to draw the curtains to keep the room warm. The sound of the water against the windows is soothing and gentle.

Lumos” you say, almost whispering, and the tip of your wand lights up with a gentle pale blue glow, illuminating your face and casting shadows from your arm across the room.

Below you Lily is smiling up at you, in awe of the most simple of magical charms.

“You are really good at magic Emily,” she says, “can you teach me to do that?”

“Sure,” you tell her, “it’s easy, you just take you wand, will it to light up, and incant: Lumos and it should work.”

You watch as Lily takes her simple Yew wand, point it out of her bed, and says, “Lumos!

Her wand releases some small electric blue sparks, then starts to glow, but very faintly.

“Not bad for a beginner!” You say, praising her magic, “it worked. You just have to have more confidence and believe in yourself and it will be brighter next time. A lot of magical power is about enforcing your will on reality. Try it again.”

Lumos!” Lily says, a little more forcefully and a lot more seriously. Again, there are more sparks, and it glows a little brighter.

“That’s better,” you say, “you’re getting the hang of it. Now, to make it stop, you can say, Finite Incantatem to finish the spell, any spell, or with Lumos you can simply say Nox.”

Your wand goes dark as you say the darkness enchantment.

Nox,” Lily says, as she ends her spell, plunging your room into darkness.

You like the dark. During sleepovers with your friends, it was always a time for whispering, and secrets.

“I’m so glad Professor Trelawney found me,” Lily says, “I never knew I was doing any kind of magic until she explained it to me. It’s so crazy all the things I’ve seen today, ghosts and elves so many wizards and witches.”

You smile in the Darkness. It must be a lot for her to take on board so quickly.

“I’m really glad I’ve met you Emily. You’re so much nicer than some of the other wizards and witches.”

Your smile turns into a grin. The poor girl has no idea who you really are. But then you feel a wave of compassion for her. Her innocence and naïveté are so endearing for some reason. Yet again you get a feeling of protectiveness welling up inside you.

“I’m glad I’ve met you too Lily,” you simply say.

You lie down for a moment, and wonder what to ask her next. You want to ask her more about her dreams and her Oneiromancy or Astral Projection. You even wonder to ask her about Muggles, given that you know so little about how mundane people love their lives. You decide to ask her about her dreams, but by the time you speak, Lily has fallen fast asleep.

You lie there in the darkness, half-exhausted from the long day, but knowing that you can’t sleep yet. You wonder if pleasuring yourself could help you to get to sleep, but some who it feels strange to do it with Lily sleeping below you. You know you can draw the curtains on your bunk bed, for greater privacy, and could use a muffliato charm to stop anyone from hearing you if you gasp or moan, but that’s not what makes you hesitate to pleasure yourself. You hesitate because she would be the object of your fantasy. It’s strange to think that a beautiful girl is just a few feet away from you, yet so far out of reach.

What do you do next?

Or do you think about your situation some more first?

You try to sleep, but you can’t. You start to plot and scheme again. No one knows who you really are. In your timeline, you possessed another body at this stage, but were far away from Hogwarts, in Albania in fact. Everyone thinks that the man who found you is dead, as was also believed in your timeline. That means it’s possible he’s alive and in hiding in this timeline, and that… and that he could find the other fragment of your soul!

You sit up straight in bed. How could you have not considered this before? It is the key theme in the book Temporal Mechanics: Avoidance of Paradox, that any wizard who uses a Time Turner must avoid coming into contact with his earlier self, lest he prevents himself from doing something vital to his future self being there, causing a paradox. The book was far less clear on exactly what a paradox entailed than it was on the avoidance of said paradox. You decide you need to find a copy of this book in the Library.

There is another version of you in this timeline! It may be a drifting spirit, without a body, or it could be possessing another vessel. This other soul fragment will be more powerful than a Horcrux, but less powerful than you are, as your vessel Emily is an excellent fit for this fragment of your soul. You decide that you must find this soul fragment, and merge with it in some way, if such a thing is possible. The alternative, destroying it, seems unthinkable. Wouldn’t that destroy you? Then again, this is a different timeline, so perhaps it would just destroy an alternative future Voldemort, leaving you free to rule this world.

What do you do next?
